Santo Domingo DR and the first day at sea...

Well Kevin and I are home from our cruise. It started out a little bumpy but turned out Fabulous. We barely made it out of Salt Lake City... Oh the joys of standby travel the good news is we made it! and truthfully that is all that matters. Our flight to JFK and then down to SDQ (Santo Domingo) were uneventful. Unfortunately our luggage did not make the flight from JFK-SDQ (Santo Domingo)... My instincts were telling me not to stress it just did not make the connection in JFK and it would be here on the next flight... Oh how I should listen to my gut! Well Kevin and I quickly found an airline employee and it become very apparent that we were going to have some major communication problems, I have traveled internationally before and have always been able to find someone who speaks English and in all honesty it is very hard for me to consider the Caribbean as international travel... Well we were quickly taken to the back office (after they found out I was employee) where we were greeted with more people who could not speak English more like a spanglish; but truthfully we were visiting their country so we are the ones that really should have know some Spanish. The Dominican people have such a laid back attitude, Oh how would it be to have a "no problem man attitude". Well to make a long story short our luggage did show up on the next flight, six hours later; exactly what I had feeling would happen. Let the Vacation Begin!

Kevin Waiting for our Luggage Kevin and I spent the first night in Santo Domingo before we had to board the ship. We visited the Colonial zone, this is where Christopher Columbus's home is, he is also buried here.

I love this Picture of Kevin, This is the look he always gives me, its the
"Jamie you have lost your mind" look. Our day at sea was just what the Doctor had ordered, we spent the day laying out by the pool taking an afternoon nap, relaxing and of course consuming way to many calories... How we love going on cruises!

I am so glad you had a great time Jamie, And you should be use to having your luggage lost while going on a cruise, I still see you in your bib overalls, and Doc Martin boots and being 16 on one of the cruise's we took you on, no cloths, no personal things, and no shoes, and being a teenager, WOW, but you did handle it all will. I miss traveling with you, you are always so much FUN!!!!!!
Love you Always & Forever,
